thought for the day

Prayer is measured by its depth, not its length.

Sripture for the day: Psalm 130
1Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord.
2Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications!
3If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand?
4But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered.
5I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope;
6my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
7O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem.
8It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

Prayer for the day; Lord, it is out of the depths we cry out to you. We are in sorrow for the lives lost in the tornadoes that struck yesterday, for the boys killed in the bus accident in Atlanta, for those who are starving and dying of diseases in third world countries, for abuses and atrocities that happen all around us, for the pains, griefs, sicknesses in our family and friends. We cry for our country that seems so lost. We cry out about our own faults, sins, inadequacies, our negligence of you, and our selfcenteredness. We cry out for those who don't have a relationships with you, and we cry out because we feel overwhelmed and sometimes to do anything. There is so much we cry out about from our depths and we wait on Lord for in you is our hope our salvation. Amen
